vietnam-vacations-quangbinh-img-01Vietnamese, Russian and German experts in the central province of Quang Binh have identified 260 species of rare orchid, previously unknown in the area.

The plants, including three species of lan hai (paphiopedilum micranthum), were discovered in Phong Nha-Ke Bang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Lan hai was first recorded in 1922 but was then believed to have disappeared until it resurfaced in northern Cao Bang and central coastal Khanh Hoa provinces in 1995.
